A Palace Between Empire and Republic
Serving as the main administrative center of the Ottoman Empire in its final decades, and later the presidential residence for the Republic's founder, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Dolmabahçe represents the architectural and cultural transformation of a nation.
Built in 1856 by Sultan Abdülmecid I, the palace spans 45,000 square meters, containing 285 rooms, 44 halls, 68 toilets, and 6 hammams, representing a legacy that bridges two distinct eras of Turkish history.
