The museum operates on a strict schedule. Please note that the ticket offices close significantly earlier than the museum itself to allow time for the full tour route.
Important Notice
During high season or national holidays, capacity may be reached before official closing times. The administration reserves the right to stop ticket sales earlier than 16:00 if the daily visitor quota is met. Early arrival is strongly advised.

Museum Pass İstanbul is accepted at Dolmabahçe Palace.
Best Time
The best time to visit is early in the morning right when it opens at 09:00, or late afternoon to avoid the largest crowds. Weekdays are generally less crowded than weekends.
Duration
A comprehensive visit to the Selamlık, Harem, and Gardens typically takes about 2.5 to 3 hours. Plan for extra time if you wish to enjoy the cafe by the Bosphorus.
Getting There
Located in the Beşiktaş district along the Bosphorus coast, the palace is highly accessible via public transportation.
By Tram (T1)
Take the T1 Kabataş-Bağcılar line to the final stop, Kabataş. The palace is a pleasant 5-10 minute walk north along the waterfront.
By Ferry
Ferries arrive frequently at Beşiktaş Pier or Kabataş Pier from various points in the city (Kadıköy, Üsküdar). The palace sits between these two piers.
By Bus
Numerous bus lines pass along the coastal road. Alight at the Dolmabahçe-Tünel or Beşiktaş Stadyumu stops right outside the complex.
Entrances
The main visitor entrance is through the Saltanat Kapısı (Imperial Gate) on the southern end. Separate entrances exist for the Painting Museum and staff areas.
Suggested Route
Start with the main Selamlık tour, proceed to the Harem, and conclude by exploring the beautiful Bosphorus-facing gardens and the Painting Museum.
Guidelines
Photography
Strictly prohibited inside. To preserve the delicate artifacts and textiles, photography and videography are forbidden inside all palace buildings (Selamlık, Harem, Pavilions). You are welcome to take photos in the exterior gardens and courtyard areas.
Accessibility
Due to its historical architecture, Dolmabahçe Palace is only partially accessible for wheelchair users. Only the ground floor of the Selamlık is accessible. The Harem and upper floors require climbing stairs. Wheelchairs are available free of charge at the entrance (subject to availability).
Tour Format
Visits are self-guided using a compulsory audio guide system, included in the ticket price. Guides are available in multiple languages. You must leave a valid ID (passport, driver's license) as a deposit to receive the audio guide device.
Security & Baggage
Large bags, backpacks, and luggage are not permitted inside the palace. A cloakroom is available near the entrance. All visitors must pass through a security screening similar to airport procedures before entering the complex.
